From Paper Trails to Platforms: A Case Study of Manual Process Toward Integrated Industrial Training Information System

Abstract

This study examined the current industrial training placement process at UiTM Pahang. The findings reveal that manual, decentralized approaches create significant administrative challenges, including processing delays, inconsistent communication, repeated follow-ups, and limited status visibility. These issues negatively affect student experiences and increase coordinator workload. Students strongly supported an integrated information system featuring automated reminders, centralized dashboards, searchable company databases, and structured submission validation. Overall, digital transformation is necessary to modernize industrial training management. An integrated system can streamline operations, improve communication, minimize documentation errors, and provide a more organized, user-friendly experience for all stakeholders.

  • Dr. Zuria

    Dr. Zuria Akmal Binti Saad is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Business Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pahang, Kampus Jengka. Serving faculty since 2009, her academic and research expertise spans Technology Management, Organizational Behaviour, and Human Resource Management. She holds a Ph.D., alongside a Master’s degree in Office Systems Management from UiTM Shah Alam. Dr. Zuria’s research actively explores digital transformation, specifically focusing on organizational readiness for Big Data adoption within the Industrial Revolution 4.0 framework. She is deeply committed to advancing modern business management education and fostering technological literacy in students.

  • Dr. Mohd Amli, Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pahang
    Dr. Mohd Amli bin Abdullah @ Baharum is a Senior Lecturer (Pensyarah Kanan) within the Faculty of Business Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pahang, Kampus Jengka. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from UiTM and serves as the Undergraduate Coordinator for the Office Systems Management program (Koordinator Prasiswazah Pengurusan Sistem Pejabat). His multidisciplinary research covers digital transformation, higher education teaching technologies, and indigenous sustainable education modeling. Notably, his projects include co-developing digital supervision systems like InRES, analyzing Big Data readiness at UiTM, and researching socio-economic framework dynamics in Malaysian communities. Recognition for his institutional commitment includes being nominated as a finalist for the 15th Universiti Academic Awards.

    Puan Naliza Solat is an academic and researcher affiliated with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Her work focuses primarily on educational framework development and structural learning systems within modern business and corporate environments. She is recognized for her research in optimizing educational materials, notably co-authoring innovative structural projects like "IM4ON: instructional materials for Office environment," which aims to enhance teaching principles and practical applications for future office administration professionals. Puan Naliza is highly dedicated to advancing instructional design, bridging academic curricula with real-world corporate demands, and equipping students with crucial organizational competencies for the modern workforce.

    Encik Azmi Bin Salim is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pahang, Kampus Jengka. Serving the institution since September 1995, his academic focus encompasses Office Systems, Office Automation, and Information Management Systems. His collaborative research addresses modern educational technologies and tools, including the development of grade assessment dashboards for educators and digital solutions for research supervision. He actively participates in community service programs, reflecting his longstanding commitment to student development and institutional advancement at UiTM.

  • Muhammad Hafiz
    Encik Muhammad Hafiz Bin Suhaimi is a lecturer specializing in Office Management and Technology within the Faculty of Business Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kampus Jengka. He holds both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Office Systems Management from UiTM. His primary academic research revolves around general Management, Employee Engagement, and Quality of Work Life. His recent scholarly publications explore modern corporate dynamics, including green workplace policies and the synergy between artificial intelligence and human decision-making to boost workforce performance. Additionally, he plays an active role in community outreach programs like the UiTM SULAM "Healthventure Day" initiatives.
